ServiceMaster NCR serves northern Virginia, southern PG County and Washington, DC. This gives us a great opportunity to meet the restoration and cleaning needs of a large portion of the DC metro area. I was chosen as the RAM (Regional Area Manager) for Commercial Large Loss for the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia by Corporate ServiceMaster. We all look forward to this as a growing opportunity.
My husband, Greg, and I moved to Northern Virginia for the purpose of starting our own business and purchased our first franchise, ServiceMaster of National Capital Restoration, in January of 1986. We began in one-half of the first floor of an old house in Annandale that comprised about 350 sq. ft. In this small area, we kept all of our equipment, supplies and office space. Our first truck was a brown van painted yellow that Greg had driven when we lived in West Virginia. Over the next nineteen years, we moved five more times. The final move was the dream of a professional lifetime… to be housed in our own building right here on Fordson Road. It took us nearly three years from the purchase of the land to the completion of the building. The process came with many headaches and setbacks, but we were determined to have a great facility for our employees and our Company’s growth and needs.
Having been in business since 1986, we are very proud of the fact that every year we have been in business, we have had growth. Some years we have tremendous gains and other years just a little, but we always move forward with a watchful eye for new opportunities and great people to work with. We hope our obligation to our employees is evident through many training opportunities, safety standards, immunizations, recognitions and celebrations of accomplishment.
Several years ago, we added Mold Remediation to our services. In 2007, we added two full time positions in our Marketing/Business Development Department. In this very competitive industry, we have made the financial commitment to ensure that the business remains strong and growth oriented.
In 2014 we advanced our service potential by becoming one of the 12 strategically positioned ServiceMaster Recovery Management (SRM) command and control centers for large loss. Being a part of SRM gives ServiceMaster NCR the advantage of a nationwide network of commercial disaster resources. We continue to look for new ways to serve our customers and provide opportunity for our employees.
